Source: Daily Nation                                                                                                                                                                                                                             More than 30 Kenyans from Nakuru County are stranded and starving in a transitional detention camp in Saudi Arabia where they had gone in search of employment.

The group, said to have left a month ago with hopes of securing employment in the Middle East, has called on the government to intervene and rescue them.

Addressing the press in Nakuru Sunday, their relatives said the captives, all women, were living in deplorable conditions and without food.

HELD HOSTAGE

A text message from one of them Sunday stated they were held hostage by their captors in a secluded place.

"Living conditions here are terrible. We want to come home. We are calling on our government to rescue us," read the message.

Relatives said the women had been promised lucrative jobs in Dubai a month ago but they only realised they were en route to Saudi Arabia when they were airborne.

"Agents who linked them up with the captors promised they would be paid Sh300,000,"said a relatives.
