 The African women’s movement, Monday, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, submitted to the 16th African Union (AU) summit, a proposal related to maintaining an agenda with subject about women’s rights issues.

 

According to recommendations from the 17th pre-consultative summit for gender integration of the AU, women called on African statesmen for commitment to assuming all necessary  measures, toward achieving gender equality in the continent.

In their document, women praise also the African heads of State and of Government of the AU by adopting the African Chart for democracy, Elections and Good Governance, considering as instruments tending to favourable common African values.

Women praised the AU and UN initiatives to resolve the conflicts in Côte d' Ivoire, DR Congo, Sudan, Somalia and other parts of the continent.

Angola attends the 16th summit of Heads of State and Government, being held in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), with a delegation led by President José Eduardo dos Santos.
